Dr. Hafiz earned his Ph.D. in 2014 from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. He obtained his Doctoral Fellowship in 2009 from the prestigious National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda in the USA, and his Post-Doctoral Molecular Training from 2012 to 2016 from Abbott Laboratories, Germany. He is a Co-chair of the UAE National Antibiotic Stewardship Committee, Co-chair for the RAK Hospital ASP Committee, and a scientific committee representative of the Emirates Society of Clinical Microbiologists for the UAE. He has extensive experience in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases working on HIV mutations, phylogenetic analysis at NIH to COVID-19 research. He has won several national and international awards such as Best Paper Awards, ICMR Travel Grant, Hamdan Young Scientist Award in 2016 along with top tier research funding for research on “STI’s & Infertility in UAE” from Zayed Foundation.
In his previous affiliations, Dr. Hafiz has served as Assistant Professor of Microbiology in Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi, India, he was also an Assistant Professor of the Microbiology in Government Medical College, Azamgarh, India, and a Molecular Application Specialist in Abbott Molecular in Europe, Middle East, Africa & India along with being Chairman and Managing Director of a Diagnostic Lab in New Delhi, India.
Dr. Hafiz is an Assistant Professor of Microbiology for undergraduate MBBS and BDS at RAK Medical and Health Sciences University (RAKMHSU) since 2016. He has attended over 80 regional and international conferences and has been leading more than 35 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Hafiz is a certified Internal Auditor & QMS Trainer for ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and an expert in molecular infectious diseases.
