Dr. Sood graduated from Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Shimla, India, with a Gold Medal in Surgery in 1991 and obtained her MS Ophthalmology from Indira Gandhi Government Medical College & Hospital (IGGMCH) Nagpur, India in 1996. She underwent hands-on training in Phacoemulsification at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital in New Delhi, Femtocataract, and Femto Lasik training under world-renowned Lasik surgeons like Dr. Rupal Shah from Vadodra, India; Dr. KP Reddy from Hyderabad, India; and Dr. Pavel Stodulka from Czech Republic. Her surgical training was rounded off by a long term (6 months) Oculoplasty observership in the prestigious AIIMS, New Delhi. Dr. Sood is an expert in Femtocataract and phacoemulsification surgery, having performed more than 15,000 surgeries in her experience of 24 years. She routinely performs the state-of-the-art stitch less Femtocataract, Phaco, and Micro Phaco surgery with premium foldable lens implantation as well as Femto (bladeless) Lasik surgery.
She is also an Oculoplastic specialist, proficient in performing a wide variety of ocular plastic surgeries like blepharoplasty and ptosis. She has worked as a Surgical Instructor and Consultant in the Cataract and Oculoplastic Department in the Charitable Venu Eye Institute and Research Centre, New Delhi, India, and as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, Nepal. She also has vast experience of working with prestigious healthcare groups like Fortis, Batra, and Moolchand Hospitals in New Delhi. She has numerous indexed international and national publications as well as presentations to her credit. She has been with RAK Hospital since August 2012.
