Ras Al Khaimah: The RAK Hospital distributed iftar packages to hundreds of taxi drivers in Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday.
The hospital also offered the drivers free neck and back assessments and subsequent consultation with a specialist to ease the discomfort that comes from having to drive for long hours.
“Driving is a stressful job as it is, and long hours behind the wheel take a toll on neck and back bone health,” said Dr Tinku Jose, specialist neuro surgeon at RAK Hospital, who is available for consultation with the drivers, “It stiffens the spine, slows down blood circulation and builds up a lot of tension around shoulder blade. Eventually, it can lead to poor posture and constant backache. This is why, this Ramadan, we are trying to drive home the importance of bone health, and hopefully the free services provided will help cab drivers assess where they stand.”
